Chloe's and Sophie's Special Ears Fund at Ty Calon

Who would have thought that reptiles could make Wishes come true for Deaf children? They do now.

Chloe’s and Sophie’s Special Ears Fund had an exciting afternoon at Ty Calon, Flintshire with the incredible ‘Reptiles off Roadin’. Sarah and Ellena brought a selection of reptiles with them for the children to learn about.

The children had the opportunity to learn all about the different reptiles, what they like to eat and what environment they live in. We had some super brave children who even held the reptiles if they felt brave enough. We had a Tortoise, a Bearded Dragon, Chameleon, Leopard Gecko, Jungle Nymphs, Giant African Land Snail and many more.

The most popular reptile was the snake called Louis, he is a Ball Python. We also met the cute Oreo who is an African Pygmy Hedgehog.

The children all had a fantastic time, meeting up with their Deaf peers and siblings. Families were able to learn about all of the CSSEF Wishes that we do as Karen our CEO, and Silvia, our Charity Operations Manager, joined us for the day. We had an incredible 8 Wishes requested on the day which included vibrating alarm clocks to support independence for waking up and reducing anxiety of being late for school, books with Deaf characters in, tshirts with Deaf Kids Rock proudly displayed on them and vibrating watches to make sure that the lunch time bell at school is never missed.

It was a truly wonderful day, with an absolutely beautiful venue at Ty Calon. It was so beautiful that we decided that Ty Calon would become the venue for the CSSEF Deaf Hub to open in. More details to follow soon.
