Peter & Maria Neumark

Chairman of the Trustees

Peter and his wife Maria are both Lancastrian born but moved to North Wales in 1994.

They established the Neumark Foundation with the underlying principle of supporting charities that make a difference to life in North Wales, with a strong emphasis on education and helping those from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.

Funding for the Foundation emanates from Peter’s business career. He successfully built up the largest privately-owned transport company in the UK starting with just two vehicles which was sold out in 1998.He also established a car restoration business CMC as a hobby in 1993, that is now acknowledged as world class in its field.He is a former trustee and ultimately deputy chairman of the Outward Bound Trust, a mentor of the Princes Trust and in business, a charter supporter of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Maria was a nurse ward sister, before domestic and family duties took over.

Rebecca Prytherch

Rebecca Neumark

CEO

Rebecca, CEO of The Neumark Foundation, is daughter to Peter and Maria. She has a highly successful career in business development and project management in both London and Shropshire, and in addition, has her own interior design company.

Rebecca lives in Shropshire with her partner, four children, and a menagerie of animals. Rebecca is passionate about breaking down barriers for children and young people, to enable them to achieve their true potential, in situations where they face challenges, particularly within education.

Rosalind Williams

Rosalind Williams

Project Funding Manager

Rosalind joined us as Project Funding Manager in 2024. She brings a wealth of experience across both the education and charity sectors. She has been a Director of Education, Consultant, and has significant experience as a Charity Trustee. She is passionate about supporting children and young people to build confidence and raise aspirations and she has a particular strength in charity development and strategic partnerships.

 

Julian Barnes

Julian Barnes

Completing a career in the glass industry, Julian retired as Managing Director of Pilkington Building Products China in 2012 having been based in Shanghai for 4 years. Following retirement, he became a governor of Rydal Penrhos later that year and was appointed Chairman in 2017.

Julian retired as Chair of Governors in December 2021, having learned much about the importance of children’s education and well being. The experience enabled him to develop a good understanding of the responsibilities and duties of Charities and the role of a Trustee.

Tom Elliott

Tom Elliott

Tom has worked as a Chartered Tax Adviser in the Accountancy industry for over 35 years, 20 of those as a Private Client partner in national and international firms.  He has worked with a number of families who have set up charitable foundations and is a long-standing adviser to the Neumark family.  As a father of three, Tom has a keen interest in supporting children to realise their full potential, regardless of their circumstances.

Tilly Prytherch

Matilda Prytherch

Tilly, daughter of Rebecca, and granddaughter of Peter and Maria, is currently in the third year of study at the University of Edinburgh, reading Social Anthropology. Having recently joined the Board of trustees at The Neumark Foundation, Tilly is a strong, confident and passionate advocate, and voice for young people, keenly sharing the interests and values of the foundation in making a difference to the lives of children and young people facing the greatest barriers in society.

Rob Salisbury

Rob retired as senior partner of a North Wales law practice, and is now a consultant solicitor to Aarons of Chester, and continues his Notary Public practice.  

As a former Chair of Governors at Howell’s Preparatory School, Denbigh, he fully appreciates the importance of children’s education, and the crucial role that charities play, in providing support for the children and young people, who need it most, outside of standard provision, to help them achieve their potential. 

Saul Becker

Saul Becker

Saul Becker is Professor of Children and Families at Manchester Metropolitan University and Institute Director. He is the former Provost of the University of Sussex and has held other professorial posts at Cambridge, Sussex, Birmingham, Nottingham and Loughborough universities in the UK. He is regarded as the world leader for young carers’ research, policy and practice having pioneered and worked in this field for 30 years and advised governments, policy makers and practitioners around the world.

He has 570 publications and keynote conference papers, including 18 books. In his childhood he was a young carer. Today, he is Ambassador for the UK-wide major carers’ charity, Carers Trust; a Registered Social Worker; Community Organiser;  and Chair of Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal’s Respite Fund for Carers. Saul is regarded by Universities UK as one of the ‘Nation’s Lifesavers’ – “100 individuals or groups based in universities whose work is making a life-changing difference”
