COLEG CAMBRIA – BSL COURSE
CSSEF believes in the British Sign Language and making this available with no barriers to parents of Deaf children. After extensive research to what is available in North Wales, we were shocked to learn that the nearest course for BSL was in Liverpool. This meant only one thing, CSSEF must find a suitable venue and place to host a BSL Course.
British Sign Language at Coleg Cambria
Thanks to a fantastic introduction to Keeley Bird from Coleg Cambria by Philippa Davies at The Neumark Foundation, CSSEF were able to talk about the opportunity to run a British Sign Language course Level 1 at Coleg Cambria. We visited with Philippa Davies from The Neumark Foundation who has extensive knowledge and experience from this college. One of the biggest problems that Deaf children face are communication. Parents are not funded British Sign Language to break down barriers of communication with their own child. This impacts on the child’s mental health and wellbeing negatively.
We are now on the search for a BSL teacher to bring BSL as a face to face course in 2022.
