Colomendy adventure for Deaf children

It is always fantastic to see the wonderful work that the charities we support do, first hand, so we will always jump at an invitation to join in.

At the beginning of July, Chloe’s and Sophie’s Special Ears Fund (CSSEF) brought Deaf children, and Teachers of Deaf children and Young People together from schools across Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham at The Kingswood Colomendy Outdoor Centre, Loggerheads, Mold to undertake woodland challenges, and we were delighted to go along for the day.

CSSEF have worked so hard over the last couple of years to brighten the lives of deaf children, since launching their services into North Wales at our request, after we discovered the incredible successes they were having with their initiatives, supporting Deaf children and their families in their home regions of Surrey, Berkshire and Hampshire.

As a charity they raise awareness for Deaf children and their families, they strengthen Deaf communities, build bridges in communication with the provision of BSL training and work with education providers, giving technology, resources and guidance to ensure that Deaf children have the opportunity to reach their true potential in education and life.

The day out at Colomendy provided a different kind of challenge for many of the children who attended, and a fun day was had by all, despite the rain, which didn’t dampen anyone’s bravery or enthusiasm.

The children were split into 2 groups and faced with 3 challenges, a classroom-based challenge to build a wheel barrow, a shelter building challenge and for the brave, the big 3G swing through the trees.

What an amazing day, words aren’t enough, so we thought we’d show you, so grab a cup of tea and take a look at this incredible group of youngsters taking on these challenges like superheroes!

Well done CSSEF for the incredible work you do, and thank you so much for inviting us along to this very special day, keep up the phenomenal work!
