It’s been scientifically proven that being around animals can reduce stress and anxiety. Going to pet-friendly events can also help increase your social network. Animals can be affectionate, accepting, loyal and honest. With this in mind Chloe’s and Sophie’s Special Ears Fund decided this half term to organise an event at Pat a Pet in Brynford, Holywell and invited 20 of the children they support locally to the small farm for a wonderful day.

Zeta Lloyd, CSSEF Wish Granting Champion for Flintshire and Wrexham said “The aim was to get out in the fresh air with the children, and let them interact with the wide range of friendly, and extremely cute animals on the farm at Pat a Pet in Brynford, Holywell. The children enjoyed patting the animals and finding out more about them. They also got to be around other children who are Deaf like them.”

A Parent of one of the children who attended said, “Thank you so much the children had a lovely time today petting all the different animals”.

Philippa Davies, Project Funding Manager for The Neumark Foundation said, “This is the third year that The Neumark Foundation have provided funding support for CSSEF, and the Neumark family and trustees are very proud to do so. This charity has rolled into North East Wales, supporting Deaf children and their families, and made a huge difference in a short time, enabling improvement in their educational development, through working with schools and Teachers of the Deaf to provide vital equipment and resources to schools across Flintshire and Wrexham, and now into Denbighshire too, to brighten the lives of Deaf children and enable them to have a greater chance to reach their potential. They have also impacted hugely outside of their education by working hard to create a stronger Deaf community, through thinking outside the box with wonderful events such as this to bring Deaf children and their families together in fantastic environments, where they are also able to gain wonderful experiences, create memories, and develop their social and personal skills as well as gaining confidence.”
