It’s been all move at Youth Shedz. This month we are really pleased to hear from Sonia at Youth Shedz Cymru as she explains all about their move to new premises and what a positive impact it has had on their projects, especially a collaboration with Dangerpoint that is funded by The Neumark Foundation, read on to find out more.
At Youth Shedz Cymru, we have been working towards creating a shed in every town; to do this we realised we needed somewhere we could call home first to anchor us. This is where our Mochdre office comes in; this building is allowing us to create connections in the community, have a meeting space, an area for podcast development, and much needed storage!
This building has given us a space that is more than just an office, it’s a community hub. We aim to use the space for movie nights, 3D printing, VR sessions and so much more. We have already been involved in a local litter pick, and served drinks to everyone involved on the day!
It has been largely due to the efforts of both staff, volunteers and our young people that has allowed us to create this space- from helping to bring everything across to the new office and shopping trips for new supplies – to small group sessions and helping us to work out how to best place everything so that we can utilise our new space to the best of our ability.
Our office has given us space to work on existing projects such as our Danger Point collaboration on knife crime that The Neumark Foundation funds, as we needed to meet to gather our work from visits together, and reflect on our work, so evenings have been spent doing this together in the office.
We at Youth Shedz can’t wait to see what else having this space allows us to be able to do and we are grateful to have a space that is for us and our young people to work together. Our Space, Our Future!
