Today our CEO, Rebecca Prytherch visited the children’s wards at Glan Clywd Hospital in Bodelwyddan, and Wrexham Maelor Hospital with @starlight_UK . Rebecca was keen to understand how the power of play helps to make children’s experience of illness and treatment easier to cope with.

Rebecca said “I was really impressed with Starlights’ resources. These incredible resources are provided for hospitals and children’s hospices, to help ensure that a sense of normality is maintained in children lives, despite these children and young people spending so much time in a hospital environment receiving treatment. I had the chance to see their distraction boxes, toolkits filled with toys, puzzles and conversation starters that help health professionals to distract children during scary medical procedures, as well as the portable gaming carts, funded by The Neumark Foundation earlier this year. Gaming provides digital methods of distraction during treatment and diagnoses.”
